Kalk & Kreide Sudsteiermark Sauvignon Blanc

A very nice Austrian Sauv Blanc. I was quite surprised, not what I thought since I don’t really drink Sauv Blanc any more

I have the day off, went book shopping and now enjoying a good salad with this nice Sauv Blanc.

Very distinctive take. I’m pretty sure if this were served blind I’d say Napa Valley SB. Loads of ripe tropical fruit mixed with some Loire-like gooseberry, the barest touch of grassiness. Seems like a fair amount of oak. The counterbalancing of ripeness and crisp acid/minerality in the mouth is very interesting. Finish is long and lip-smacking.

Classic, not too ripe, some nice green noted to balance the fruit and has lots of acidity.

Interesting, but still SB. Sorry.

2020. Been looking for more Austrian Sauvignon Blanc after really enjoying one earlier this year. This wine had huge tropical aromas and nice acidity and we loved it with spinach and paneer naan.

Very distinct sauvignon with gooseberries, leafs, lime etc. Intense and flavourful.
