Yesterday’s Wednesday Wine Committee, hosted by @Jeff Meyer , was so educational with fantastic German & Austrian wines. 1 sparkler, 5 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All served blind as usual.
This was SO good! Wow. Vintage sparkling Riesling! First note when sticking your nose in the glass was petrol. Very light and crisp, mainly showing chalk, limestone, white peach and a touch of sweetness. Dry. I called this sparkling Riesling. Very enjoyable.

Really cool sparkler. All the amazing fruit/floral aromatics of Riesling, peach, apricot, kerosene and amazing acidity, but with great bubbles. Small and continuous. Yum!

Just as it is with the still Riesling from Weil, the Sekt (traditional methode Champenoise) is pure, and made in a way that its only flaw is that it is flawless. White flowers, white peach, bright and elegant, with a sensual beaded mouse and texture.

Nov 26th, 2015A new one for me from a favorite producer. This is classy stuff, for sure Riesling and not trying to be Champagne. A touch of sweetness but very high acidity offsets it with energy and nerve. #weil #rheingau
