Weingut Clemens Busch
Marienburg Falkenlay Erst Lage Grosses Gewächs Riesling
Outstanding. Crystalline and mineral and stupid good. So slatey and expressive. 2020 is such a classic vintage.

Apr 26th, 2023Yesterday’s Wednesday Wine Committee, hosted by @Jeff Meyer , was so educational with fantastic German & Austrian wines. 1 sparkler, 5 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All served blind as usual.
Very dry and minimally sweet German Riesling. More Alsatian like due to its dryness. Mineral driven with limestone, very little petrol, low acidity, underripe Asian pear. I called this Trocken styled German Riesling.

Cerebral #wine from the #Mosel's pioneer of organic farming (going back to 1984) #Busch lets his wines create their own destinies by allowing them to ferment freely with long periods on the lees, giving these unique #Rieslings profound complexity and exotic aromas.

1 person found it helpfulDec 25th, 201418 Gramm residual sugar so not official labeled as GG. Lots of baroque notes in the beginning (exotic fruit, honey, tried apricot) turning into a wonderful, slate driven nose. Very precise on the palate with a good amount of acidity. This boy is in a lovely spot right now but it would be interesting to see how he develops over the next five years.

Jan 26th, 2017Very primary notes (icing sugar, baby powder and super sweet pineapple) at first but with more time & air they integrate more & more. Missing the last length & precision the 2015 delivers. Maybe not in the best zone right now.

Jan 26th, 2017Beautiful, "cool" nose. Lots of herbs, withdrawn fruit and a hint of sweetness on the nose. Medium acidity on the palate, very dense, in the last quarter the wine shows very energetic. Long, salty aftertaste. Needs some more time to really get together and sing. Nevertheless a strong showing.

Jan 26th, 2017Also situated in the central slope along the Marienburg and is produced from, on average, 65 year-old vines that yield lovely Rieslings of great complexity and longevity. #2012 was one of the "easiest" harvests in recent years and the resultant wines were distinctly #fresh, #fruity and very attractively balanced--a classic #Mosel vintage! #ClemensBusch #Falkenlay #GrossesGewächs #Riesling
