Bòggina A Val d'Arno di Sopra Sangiovese

Medium ruby; medium intensity aromas of red cherry, dried plum, spice, dried herbs, mineral funk, earth; dry, medium acid, medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus intensity flavors of red fruits, dried black fruit, baking spices, funky wet earth; medium finish, moderately concentrated, very good

The A is for amphora. It has a sense of purity to it but is seemingly aging fast.

Pop and pour. Lovely. Like Nerello mascalese tinged sangio: smoky, seemingly volcanic, blood orange, tar, a touch of funk. On the palate: lovely acidity, elegant and lighter weight, darker on the back palate with soft chalky tannin. Yum.

Not your typical sangiovese. Instead of the herbs flavor it is replaced by a mineral driven flavor but the cherries are all here. Not sure how it will age kept 2 to see long term...not a sangio for a crowd used to italian wine very particular style

Underwhelming. Overly focused, balanced tannins. Had with bolognese and Neapolitan pizza.

A mullet of a wine - business in the front, party in the back. In all seriousness this is a really enjoyable wine, spicy chocolate that I’m pretty sure Jacques Torres already spun into an ice cream flavor. 👍🏻🍦🍫
Also smells a little like Clorox wipes.

Rich warm flavors, with a tart hint and a fairly clean finish. A great match with a wintry vegetable mix
