2002 Viansa 'Agusto' Sonoma Barbera. Tastes like Cabernet so not overly impressed with the varietal "character". Super extracted style with black cherry, cassis, graphite and some lovely "brett" to impart leather and earth notes. Concentrated and firm with spicy oak but too much alcohol at 14.9%. I like the wine as it's well made but it's lacking some finesse. #wine #sonoma #sommelier #viansa #california

Consumed May 2015. Received 10/2008 from Viansa. Tinting flavors of ripe plums and BlackBerries with a long lush finish. This wine is a blend of 88% Barbera, 6% Primitivo, 4% Teroldego and 2% Tempranillo. This big, juicy wine goes wonderful with barbecue fair, grilled pork tenderloin or lasagna, but is also wonderful by it's self. It has soft tannins and a long, smooth finish. A full-bodied wine that is best when decanted. On the nose, dried flowers and wild berries. On the palate, ripe plums, spices and BlackBerries. $42 retail.
