Another birthday vintage bottle, this one I’ve been holding on to for a year or two. As the world gets complicated and scary it becomes much easier to open your best wines. A tired sigh upon opening, mostly still by the time four glasses were poured. This showed lots of oxidative notes, while still possessing a ton of fresh acidity. Aromas of amontillado and oloroso sherry, NYC Hot Nutz stand, and caramel, with the palate introducing fresher stone fruit elements. A touch of RS. Delightful and special. Certainly the oldest champagne I’ve tried.

Nov 3rd, 2016Tasted magnum first, then Bottle. Much preferred the magnum personally, it was a brighter fresher wine. The bottle definitely showed more oxidative character.
