Dark Ruby, almost purple, with dark fruit aromas with aromatic spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with cedar and black pepper notes, firm tannins on medium finish ending with toasty tones and slight alcohol burn.

We visited V. Sattui for a random drop in since it was basically walking distance. The commercial vineyards aren’t typically our first choice. Out of the 8-10 different wines we tried, this was the only one we liked enough to purchase. Just opened our only bottle. On the nose: heavy vanilla, tobacco, anise, black pepper, strawberry, plum. On the tongue: vanilla, plum, smoke, cigar wrapper, strawberry, blackberry. Overall, heavy on the oak. The tannins pretty drying, but still acidity. Definitely has a lot of life left and would like to see it in 3-4 years. But a pleasant wine for the price and a good representation of RR Zin.
