For some reason I love Ridge Zins with a grilled burger. Difficult to describe the notes in this wine.
On the nose: black pepper, blackberry, anise, menthol, floral, slight blueberry and....cherry cola? On the tongue: blackberry, cherry, baking spice, tobacco on the finish. Grippy tannins at first but mellows out extremely fast. Petite sirah cuts through burger fat nicely. Another nice Zin blend from Ridge. — 4 years ago
This screams Napa Valley Cabernet. I’ve had multiple vintages throughout the years ranging from roughly ‘12-‘17. Drinking the ‘13 in 2020.
On the nose: blackberry, black currant, blueberry jam, vanilla, light cigar. On the tongue: black currant, blueberry, vanilla, toasty oak. Very ripe, almost syrupy fruits. A lot of oak and alcohol is noticeable. Tannins are definitely still present. Drinking well now but has a lot of life left. Extremely Reasonable on the price for Napa Cab. — 4 years ago
Funk in a glass! This thing deserves ribs, a burger with smoked cheese, or lamb stew. On the nose: barnyard funk, olives, hint of black fruit. On the tongue: leather and funk. Could just be a post covid palate, but would like to see a little more fruit. Decant for at least an hour when this young. — 4 years ago

Great wine!
Complex on the nose: cherry, pine needle, mint, orange rind, graphite
On the tongue: cherry, strawberry, Napa dust, plum maybe, cedar.
Super juicy! Not your typical pepper explosion or overly hot alcohol you see in Zin. Can’t wait to visit them in person! — 4 years ago
Spicy, peppery, licorice, soil, earth, raspberry. High alcohol! Coating mouth feel. Viscous. Not my favorite Zin, but nice. — 4 years ago
Aromatic! Acid bomb.Petrol peach and lemon on the nose. Same on tongue. Lazy review! — 4 years ago
On the nose: crushed raspberries, floral bouquet, strawberries, cinnamon,
clay.
On the tongue: raspberry, graphite, pepper cinnamon, and spice.
Nice and approachable Zin. Just enough structure to clear a nice lean bison burger. — 4 years ago

2014 with 7 years on it.
Nice color with a slight brick on the edges.
On the nose: eucalyptus, mint, green olive, Cocoa, baking spice (anise?) hint of strawberry.
On the palate: absolute cocoa bomb! Baking spices (anise & cinnamon), red fruit.
Short, but pleasant finish. Light tannins for the age. This wine was totally different than expected. I expected a typical, ripe and dusty Napa cab. This wine is intense and rich, yet still has finesse. Enjoyed with Teriyaki filet mignon kabobs. This would go well with a very lean piece of beef due to the light tannins. Very approachable when young, drink now!
