Turnbull Wine Cellars
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Solid and surprisingly accessible for such a young cab (19). Not terribly complex but delicious, fruit-driven, and easy drinking.

Mar 16th, 2022Very nicely made. Balanced and easy to drink. Young. Given a few years, I’m hoping for added dimension.

Jun 11th, 2021Fruit forward, relaxed tannins. Some spice. Easy drink wine. Not overly exciting but a wine that will appeal to a wide array of drinkers.

Feb 13th, 2020I always follow @Mike R , @Greg Ballington and @Roy Goble and drink what they drink!! I can’t believe this is my first Turnbull. Well I have been missing out. Yes it is young, but still very enjoyable! A classic go-to wine taste from the semi northern end of Napa Valley. I will be back for this one again later.

May 30th, 2019It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. This is a wonderful Cabernet from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose with blackberries, black currants, cherry pie, cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, coffee, mocha, tobacco, licorice, peppercorn, cloves, beef jerky and black pepper.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and nice long legs.
Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, wood, licorice, earth, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a great Napa Cabernet. Very enjoyable already, but will be so much better in 5 years. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Extremely fruity right now, and needs some time to soften up and get more complexity.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show tannins. Good enough to have all by itself as a sipping wine.
Good with food too, like a big piece of steak.
This is just delicious. Tasty, even though it is so young.
14.7% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$50

Big juicy mouthful. Good value. Made a perfect “second bottle” with BBQ steak and friends.

4 people found it helpfulAug 2nd, 2014The wine I have opened this evening is nothing short of stellar for the price. The 2018 Turnbull Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, CA.
On the nose are wonderful black fruit black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, vanilla, violets, pencil shavings and earth.
On the palate are again pleasing dark fruit, black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, anise, graphite, herbs and clean dark earth.
This is a full bodied wine that is well ballanced with medium+ acidity and medium + fine mouthcoating tannins that move smoothly into a long fresh black fruit finish. What a wonderful way to start the weekend. For the money this wine checks all the boxes. Please have a great weekend and stay healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷
