Trombetta Family Wines
Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California, USA

2014. A thoughtful gift from a generous and wine savvy friend. Elegant, might even say luxurious, and definitely built for the long-haul. Red and black cherry, red raspberry, hint of birch beer and spice. An almost smoky minerality wafts here and there. Subtle, refreshing acid and a light and lingering finish. 14.2% abv is still integrating but is certainly not hot or clumsy. Would love to see it in four or five years.

Jul 12th, 2017Generous dark red cherry fruit and divinely smooth with a subtle smokiness that blurs the line between toast and minerality.

1 person found it helpfulSep 28th, 2014A fresh nose of ripe red and black fruit with purple flowers. Slight meatiness. More complexity than the #13 The palate was quite lively with the wine jumping around. Med acid with firm tannins and a fine finish. #trombettafamilywines #sonomacoast #pinotnoir #ctbucklinwine

Jul 24th, 2016A younger and easier drinking #pinotnoir with med intensity and alcohol present on the nose. The palate was fat and round with red and black fruit. There was a slight buttery aspect. Less complexity and concentration than the #gapscrown but very tasty. Med length. #trombettafamilywines #sonomacoast #ctbucklinwine

The wine shows a lovely, deep ruby color, and an elegant nose of cranberry, violets, pomegranate and black tea. A savory streak of spices runs through this graceful
Pinot. On the palate, there are flavors of cranberry, raspberry and pepper spice, and the acidity is great. Forest floor notes add complexity and depth to this sophisticated wine.

2011 Gap's Crown showing its stuff to the naysayers who have held out little hope for the vintage. Pick end before the rain, this transcends expectations and is a great example of balance in wine.
