Deep ruby in color; cherries, raspberries, and cedar on the nose; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; tastes like stewed strawberries, hibiscus, orange peel, and clay pots with a medium finish. I like it and Nellie does too.

Dark reddish, purple with a murky depth. Smells like incense, dark plum skin, and rose petal candle. Flavors are a mix of cooked black fruits (cherry, berry, plum, currant) and mocha. Bit blunt. A much denser and richer style of Grenache than the French or CA style. It’s got a hint of the rosehip & hibiscus tea thing that can come with Grenache. Lacks the elegance of some others I’ve had.

This wine had no nose upon opening the bottle and very little flavor initially. It needs to breathe. After being opened for a few minutes it improved significantly. This is not a wine for drinking before a meal. It tasted much better with food and got better as the meal progressed.
This is my first experience with Old Vines Garnacha and I did not know what to expect. I would buy this again, but only serve it with a meal, not as a before or after meal wine.
