A very nice, earthy, savory Neb. Deeply minerally and dark cherry-ish nose. Rich, dark, and still showing some tannin. Nice acids. Fresher seeming than the last bottle I had of this about a year ago.

A well made Gattinara with everything in balance. A crowd pleaser among a group of California Cabernet lovers.

Classic. Nose starts out shy, but after an hour in the decanter it shows ripe cherry, plummy fruit, and a deep-toned earthy gravelly note that marks this as a Novarra area Neb. A bit of sweet baking spice too. Dark berry and cherry fruit in the mouth, with loads of low-toned minerality. Less acid than I expected, but lots of tannin remains. This will keep for several more years, but I'm not sure it will improve. Great now with a decant.

Powerful. Dark fruit, spice, mint, rosemary. Delicate silky tannin, beautiful structure. This has some staying power and needs it to show its full potential. Pretty, but still too primary.

Glad I opened it. Just starting to slide, but was terrific with my bolognese. Great example of how the right wine elevates the meal and vice versa.
