Wow! Bought this weird large format (3.78L = 1 Gallon) Gattinara from Flatiron Wines. Thanks to Theo at La Compagnie for offering to open it with Port tongs. Opened and decanted with a large group of friends. Less sediment than you would expect or at least less than in many Travaglini. Worked our way through three bottles over the course of 60+ minutes, leaving two by the side to see how they evolved. Good fruit for a 46 year old wine, that started out with a bit of red and then evolved to more dark and more earth and mushroom came out too. — 8 years ago
Alc: 13.5% 好みの tertiary aromasが出て良い感じだがやや凝縮感に欠ける気がする — 22 days ago
Perfect with my garganelli--structured, rustic nose with a palate to match; barely overripe red fruits, earth, mushroom (but not too funky). May not be quaffable. It opens up. — 10 years ago
2008. Deep, deep, so much more than a sforzato. Had it open a week and it kept drinking. "The dream" indeed. — 11 years ago
Aromatic, spicy, aetheric
Dried cherries, a hint of wilted flowers, but fresh , juicy, a touch spicy
Beautifully poised on the palate, elegant, must be peaking right now.
Juicy, mellowed tannins, brilliant acidity. Lovely purity and great depth.
Drinking beautifully right now. — 2 months ago
