Vintage 2015 | elegance and quaffable, but expected a bit more, like good tension | paired with a zucchini oven dish

This is a nice and easy drinking Sangiovese from Italy.

Very pretty color of ruby with medium intensity, and a wide red rim.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with a nice mouthfeel.

Showing red currants, cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, tobacco leaf, earth, dark coffee, black pepper and light vegetables.

Short finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.

A good quality wine that will continue to age nicely in the next few years.

Wine Enthusiasts 87 Points.

Good right out of the bottle, and calms down a bit after 30 minutes in the glass.

A good food wine.

14% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$25.

Tenuta Il Poggione was founded at the end of 1800 when Lavinio Franceschi, land owner from Florence, decided to visit the area after hearing the stories from a shepherd, who brought his herds around Montalcino during the winter. #46 on Spectator’s 2017 top 100 list. I gave a blind tasting and threw this in with their Brunello, this “Baby Brunello” caused a stir! Red berry bouquet with cherry and citrus flavors, fine soft tannins, medium+ tangy finish ending with earthy spice notes. Great value!

Slow-ox’d for two hours. Dark cherries, dirt, tea. Delicious Rosso.
