Borgo Cortona Syrah
Interesting, very Italian expression of Syrah. Super bright acid a little out of balance. Zesty almost citrusy aromas. Coulda been a little riper or cellared a lot longer.

2 people found it helpfulAug 14th, 2015Italy's take on a Cotes du Rhone, sappy and juicy fruits with some funk. Tell-tale Italian acidity, floral violets. Tannin a little chewy on the finish. Day 3 Coravin finally cracked through. Day 1 was showing nothing, day 2 so-so. In other words decant this a few hours

Feb 16th, 2014Cortona- what a fun place! Didn’t realize there was Syrah coming out of there. You would know this is Tuscan if I blindfolded you... plenty of barnyard funk, dark cherry, and a little velvety chocolate on the nose. It presents itself on the tongue like highly carbonated cola, then dissipates and gives way to plum, chocolate, nutmeg, and great wooly bully tannins. Salut!

Feb 26th, 2019Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and licorice notes are laced together in the 2011 Syrah Borgo. This supple, sexy Tuscan Syrah is best enjoyed over the next few years while the fruit retains its freshness and raciness. (AG)
