Loads of white and black pepper on the nose. Bright red berry fruit and hint of gaminess. Palate is light yet flavorful with a very peppery Crozes vibe but brighter. No significant tannins and very juicy. Engaging and nice.

Sipping Fine Wine

Telmo Rodriguez, Spain’s pioneer winemaker, studied viticulture & oenology at the Univ of Bordeaux & winemaker at his family winery in Rioja. Consistent great quality year after year. Made from 100% Godello grown in shallow, stony granite soils on terraces facing south, west & northwest. Straw yellow with green edges and fruity floral nose with forest aromas. The palate shows white flesh fruits, light body, generous acidity in a nice mouthfeel. The finish is medium in length and pleasant.

From Telmo Rodriguez and his venture in Valdeorras in northwestern Spain, this is a great entry level Mencia. A great value at about $12-15. Elegant and earthy, with red cherry, plum, licorice spice, nary a trace of wood in this. Excellent acidity, medium grain tannin that is fine and supple, medium bodied and a medium+ finish.

Capa y densidad media, color picota. En nariz lácteos, fruta roja , notas de monte bajo. En boca ligero, frutal , buen paso y final ágil.
