I am a perpetual groupie of mountain wine and the Mt Veeder definitely got my attention. Sure enough there’s a mayacamas connection with this winemaker. Happy to report it doesn’t disappoint on the rugged mountain character. Tannins are burly but this is less about ripe jammy fruit and more about high toned raspberry, violets, hibiscus, blood orange, leather and dried herbs. The mayacamas of Zinfandel? Sure. Right up there with the best of Ridge and Bedrock on my list of top Zins
