Sweet tobacco nose led a smooth and lighter BdM that’s likely past its apogee but so compelling. Lithe and subtly layered, the power it once held is replaced by soft notes of nutmeg, dark cherry and vanilla. Nice, but drink up. Note that this is not the PS (I had mis-ID’d previous bottles, confusing labeling from SP).

1997 Siro Pacenti Brunello. The favorite of the night though it didn't get my vote. Ripe of course but with these bright , unmistakable dark ripe kirsch fruit layered on the palate. Quite enjoyable and my last bottle but plenty of life left here.

Honestly a bit disappointed in this one... 2001 which I previously had about 8 years ago and I thought was still 5-10 years too young... this one has definitely lost all of its fruit and while it was exhibiting secondary characteristics of leather and tobacco on the palate, there was no length on the palate and the aroma was completely gone despite drinking it over the course of 3 hours... bummer

2006. Delightful example of a Brunello with plenty of life to spare. Fabulous, does not disappoint!
