This is in a great place right now. So , so freaking good. I opened a 97 Napa silver oak the other day and was slightly disappointed. I think the AV is the Mike Tyson of the 2 right now. Drink em if you’ve got em!

Tasted out of two bottles. Lovely old red fruits and cedar.

Dense Ruby, browning edges. Blossomed into a lovey bouquet of dark chocolate, black and red fruit, with mellow tannins and lingering finish.

3L! Hands down the best 84 Alex I’ve had. Soft, bright, very focused. Always spectacular when the American Oak finds its subtle, lingering home at 30+ years.

Bursting with herbal freshness. Still needs time to resolve. Overtakes fruit more than I expected.

Lots of fun to try the 07 side by side with the new 2014. The 07 was still very youthful but delightfully evolved. Not quite secondary yet but there is some nice truffle and earth developing in bottle. This is in a great spot but probably even better in 5ish years

Tasted at the new Geyserville tasting room. What a beautiful setting. The new silver oaks are really terrific wines. I particularly liked this 2014 Alexander valley. It was so true to its Cabernet roots and should glide effortlessly in the cellar for many many years
