This is Shafer’s first vintage of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Deep Ruby with big fruit aromas of ripe black and red fruits with some floral and herbaceous notes. On the palate this wine delivers fresh blackberry, currants and complex flavors of espresso, mint and savory cinnamon. Long opulent finish, well balanced with acidity ending with fruit, toasty vanilla oak and earthy character. Wonderful!

Delicious with a mid rare ribeye. Breathed in glass for 3 hours before the meal. Plush blue fruit and nicely integrated oak.

The color is very opaque. The leg drip is 9 seconds at 3/4 glass start to 1/4 glass. The boquet is blackberry pie. There is no tanic / alcohol aroma at all. The initial palate is that of blackberry, currant, cigars, and pepper. The finish is butter. No aftertaste. It is dry, but not over done! Perfection in a wine. Finally!!!!!!!!!!! worth every penny!

Dark purple w/ fuschia rim like a malbec. Raspberry tootsie pop, prunes, jam, smoked chocolate, brand new leather furniture. Young and wound up, but rich and full of surprises to come. I've concluded it's a shame to drink a Shafer current vintage.

Opens a bit disjointed, as though you surprised it while it was getting dressed. An hour later, it has relaxed, regained its poise, and is starting to impress anyone nearby. Acid, fruit, tannins, balanced alcohol: this bottle has years ahead of it. Well, not this bottle, but you know what I mean.
