When I say this wine is funky, please know that it's a major compliment. Aged for two years in Slovenian oak casks, it has a purple hue that is gorgeous to behold. Spicy, with tart overtones, it lingers on the tongue so you can really taste the fruit. You'll get all the earthiness and rusticness that you knew you wanted from this, as well. This wine is perfect for food pairings.
On another note, the Cannonau wines from Sardinia supposedly have the highest levels of antioxidants of any wine in the world. And antioxidants are good for you! So this is Dr approved!

Grubbing down with zucchini "lasagna" and garlic bread, this rubbed the cotes du Rhone spot better than any Rhone I have had in quite a while, and still paired great with the food. Plenty of gamey black fruit and crunchy tannin!

Really love this wine. Home made pasta, sauce and meatballs tonight. Feel like I'm back on the northern western coast of Italy....warm, salty seas with a hint of earth and a tinge of brine. Magnificent!!

Smooth, elegant and complex. Subtle spice adds another dimension to the rich plummy main body of flavour.

Aromas of barnyard, black cherries, dried herbs, earthy, dirty and leathery. Flavors of blackberries, tart cherries, hay, and minerals with a light bitter finish. Medium to Medium + bodied and medium + acidity, developed tannins.
