Still hanging in there but the big nature of this wine doesn’t lend itself to aging very well. Cherry, celery salt, tobacco, spice and medium acid.

2007. Decanted, needed a minute. Was celery salt to begin then opened with raspberry jam, fruit roll up, earth, iodine, dried leaves, roasted fruits and nice acid. Gotta say, these wines are made so big, they just don’t age very well.

Happy birthday Christina & Hedy.

Just entering it’s good drinking phase. Give it 3-5 year’s to be at its peak.

Wednesday Wine Committee hosted by Dan. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. Tasted blind as usual.

Seemed over the hill to me. Little bit of burnt rubber on the nose, which took me to South African Cabernet or Chinon. Not much acidity. Good bit of pepper. Old black cherry. Not sure how common this is for the vintage.

Big and polished and round. Very deep flavor with a touch of cola. A bit big but, of it’s type, successful.

Aging well - dark fruit dominates.

Better than I had remembered - cherries and cola all the way. Nice with a Thanksgiving feast.

Lovely fruit still present with an earthy undertone.
