Thee nose is classic twigs and branches..
for an old, inexpensive Pinot, the acidity is still strong. From front to back and beyond. It carries a few tart fruits with it, alpine berry, polish plum, Jolly rancher. All and all a worthy wine for a stormy Thursday.

Aug 22nd, 2019Tart cherry lingers in the nose.
A touch of citrus, mingling with blueberry applesauce pie, jolly rancher blue, goose berry.
Light tannins with a strong, acidic backbone, much like a candidate running for an office..

Nov 6th, 2018Still troubled by a prickle of CO2 but once it blows off, convincingly brambly fruited, sapid/stemmy and soil inflected.

Aug 27th, 2017The expression of the Scott Paul La Paulée Pinot Noir is very much in line with what I would expect from the 2012 vintage in the Willamette Valley. A year with textbook growing conditions has endowed this Pinot with suitably lush red-fruit notes—black cherries and crushed raspberries are underpinned by notes of iron, forest floor, decomposing leaves, and a whisp of smoke. The impression of lushness carries over on the palate and is lifted by moderate acidity and an enduring, lightly spicy finish. Sample

Tar little berries, smooth scone like yeastiness, and zippity kumquat acidity.
Low tannins, hints of those twigs and branch berries, the occasional fresh St.Johns bay leaf.
A perfect Pi in a bottle on 3.14.
