Probably my number one Gruner experience ever. So much length, freshness and complexity.

First time in a long time trying Grüner Veltliner! I found this wine quite hard to get into, possibly because of unfamiliarity, or perhaps the style of wine? There’s no denying this is pretty fantastic stuff, herbaceous and mineral with great salinity and juiciness on the palate. It’s super concentrated, full-bodied and really quite youthful – I just think it might not be my cup of tea! Still, I’ll hold on to the remaining bottles I have and try another in a few years’ time. (Late amendment to this note: this wine came into its own with a simple dish of sea bass & lemon - definitely a wine for food!)

Intense, white pepper, creamed corn, wet stones, pear and green apple. From 70 year old vines. Superb, long finish.

Holy fuck, this wine is amazing. Spicy and huge! Such a particular mix of savory (wasabi, turnip purée) and fruity (perfectly ripe golden pear, Meyer lemon, pineapple core, mirabelle). Super compelling structure that pulls back just short of the edge of unctuous and cloying. Thanks to @Andrew Rastello for pulling this epic bottle for today's blind.
