Aziano Chianti Classico Sangiovese

Solid Chianti Classico, but not outstanding. At Osteria La Cantinetta in Firenze.

This Sangiovese is pretty decent for the price point. A fair amount of berry notes on the nose. Dark cherries, cherry pits and skin, acid and astringency are detectable on the nose. The palate confirms the cherries but in a tart underripe way. Also getting strawberry and raspberry notes on the finish. Theres iron flavors and metallic things going on with the palate, not to mention barnyard and turned earth with some potting soil smells. For the 15ish bucks this is a complex Sangiovese.

Terrific Italian for 15.

A good Chianti Classico.

Fine for a Tuesday night but nothing special at all.

Ruffino Aziano Chianti Classico '12. Red fruit bomb w/ hints caramel and violets. #lovely texture, velvety tannins. Easy drinking.

Could have fooled me blind on pnp for a Zinfandel. Fun, easy drinking.
