Rovellotti
Chioso Dei Pomi Ghemme Nebbiolo
Development with drinkability and intrigue is a winner. Med + tannins mellowing out. Less tar, more cherry, and singed herb and earth.

Aug 25th, 2022Solid Alto Piemonte offering, with typical cool-climate and rustic notes compared to cousins farther south. This one has that riper late-pick or slightly air-dried prune/raisin note that sticks out for me. Otherwise a lovely wine that can be enjoyed with a wide variety of rich foods. SommSelect.

Oct 22nd, 2019It's been an honor to sell the wines of the Rovellotti family over the last couple years. From 05 to 07 there has been a high mark of consistency. I'm so happy that people are catching on to the magic of Northern Piedmont. This wine spends around four years in Slovenian botte before bottling. Just released, this is one of the most intense but fragrant wines I've had from Antonello and co.

Takes a minute to open up, but then is generous and super aromatic, with just a notch lower tannin structure than Barolo or Barbaresco, which opens the door to pairing with a wide variety of dishes. That said, mushroom tagliatelle wasn't a stretch, and sure was a great match.

Barolo got nothing on this gem. $ for $ a killer Nebbiolo.

Gorgeous array of earthy/tar goodness that weave nicely with surprisingly deep and rich fruit, firm mineral backbone, and beautiful floral tones. The tannins appear to be softening, giving the sense that these once rigid tannins are coming around nicely. Deep black cherry and black plum, fresh tar, crushed flower petals, amaro spices, crushed rock, a sense of hung or cured meat, leather.

And the acid is high enough, the green earth underneath enough that I know that the earth ballasts the fruit and tannins. At its heart blackberries, black cherries and tannins that are in your family. Get the f in.
