Sep 6th, 2022Dark cherry & black currant with a healthy pinch of black pepper and a few cloves.
On the palate this is fresh, medium bodied with suede tannins, vibrant juicy acidity and a nice, slightly rough-rustic character.
Juicy, fresh, crunchy black fruit with a savoury, rocky mineral core.
Great with food but also nice for sipping alone.

Nose of cherry, cranberry, violet, smoke, loam, beef jerky, and a slight medicinal phenolic note. Before it got some air, it had a reduced, carbonic impression. Complex.
Note quite as complex on the palate. Label describes it as "juicy" and it is indeed. Sour cherry and violet predominate with some hints of spice. There's a streak of med+ acidity throughout with soft, well integrated tannins.
A superbly elegant, well made wine. You would pay 2-2.5x this price for a Pinot with the same prowess (there's no Pinot Noir in this, but similarly structured). Would have never guessed this was from Portugal in a blind tasting.

From. Dao region whics perfect micro climate of high desert heat and Atlantic cool breezes. Dao is not the Decentralized automomous organization for you crypto fans out there... But a favorite for blockchain advocates.
Granite soil and clay sand makes for the grapes to display rich cherry notes, rose petal and a long finish

Can I just say that people who post Matt had the 2017 vintage or Sally had the 2015 are complete assholes. No one has the slightest interest in which vintage you tried if you were too preoccupied or whatever to make interesting or intelligent critique of the wine.
Liked this wine and would buy it again. Tinto. Label doesn't provide the grapes.
From the internet; Made from the traditional grape varieties of the region, Tinta Roriz, Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional, this is a simple and fruity wine that maintains the freshness and elegance typical of Dão wines.
