Big, ripe fruit balanced with pepper and earth. Great red combining Old World and New World characteristics.

Jammy fruit up front, followed by mellow light mouth raspberry and plum. Finish is front forward and ends quickly with tanins lingering.

Dark, dense, chewy, deep. Magnificent stuff going on here. I never get to drink Portuguese wines so this was a special treat.

Totally acceptable for a guilt-free, weeknight wine from Costco; paired with 10-minute medium rare flank steak. #douro #portugal #wine

2009 Quinta de la Rosa Douro DOC blend: 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz, and 30% Touriga Franca. When the cork was dry and broke upon opening, I was worried that the wine might be oxidized, but it wasn't! With balanced ripe fruit and age-softened, once-firm tannin, it's more approachable than it probably was in its youth and is a total steal at $22. #yum #portugal

Good balanced wine. Dark fruit driven with a long dry finish. Complex nose of dark cherry, cassis, licorice, plums, violets, earthy, baking spices, vanilla, dark chocolate and dusty tannins. Lovely wine.
