2013 vintage. Full-bodied baked golden apple, some smokiness, poached pear, some petrol. Probably had reached its peak and will not improve more with time.

Had this at a trade tasting last week and been meaning to post it! It has just a smidge of sweet to it but also sings of freshness and delight. Different than most Australian Rieslings I’ve had—in that it tasted indelibly like Riesling. Which is not shade against their Rieslings so much as it is shade on me for always failing to identify them in tests. Anyway, adored this wine. Would guzzle again.

Estate situated in the quaint Polish Hill sub region of South Australia’s Clare Valley. Brothers Andrew & Neil Pike established Pikes in 1984 and continue to manage today. Pale lemon with pronounced aromas of citrus & stone fruits adding floral notes. On the palate flavors of lemon/lime, peach & pineapple with honey and toasty biscuit notes. Medium+ finish ending with wet stone character. Very Good, some bottle age will benefit.

Nice wine... but 100% not what would consider to be riesling. Not in the fruit tones, not in the acids.

Great flavors of lime zest and candied lemon. Had with wasabi tuna and grilled peaches

I know it’s the style, but the sweetness is a more than I anticipated. Apples and lemons, citrus and honey. People love this wine but I think it is just ok.

There’s no reason for this 2015 bargain bin wine to be as sublime as it is right now in 2024. Classic petrol with candied tangerine, grapefruit and ginger aromatics mid palate is lively again with candied citrus. A little lightweight at the finish but an unexpected pleasure
