Beautiful, young barolo. When first opened, it was a tannic, tobacco laden monster of a wine that I loved. It softened with time, as expected, and yielded more flavors of cherry, licorice, and higher acidity.

2008. A savory sledgehammer. Nose has balsamic, leather, menthol, dried cherries, and scorched earth. Earth, balsamic, and leather in the mouth, overwhelming the fruit. Lots of puckery tannin and some heat in the finish. Not my style.
