2007.

Think of that for a second. What were you doing in 2007?

Not a big brunello drinker but this was very tasty. I remember soft structure, dark fruit preserves like blackberries and plums and figs, some mocha and cloves.

Wine spectator app says to open the 2011 brunellos now and it’s a hundred percent correct. What a beauty. Worth the wait for sure.

A vibrant cherry red in the glass with little traces of violet. Intense, beautiful nose. Starts off with dark cherry and blackberry aromas early but soon brings in the earthy notes. Dried grass, moist earth, and gravel all over this. Cedar and mocha jump out at you. Just a wonderfully flawless nose.

Yes, it’s young. Yes, you should probably wait. No, I will not. Drinking splendidly right now. This is exactly what you want from a good Brunello, the combination of power and elegance. Full bodied with firm-ish tannins and high acidity. But still so reserved and graceful.

The palate closely follows the nose with more of those cherry and blackberry notes, along with some stewed plums and just a hint of sun dried tomato. Mushrooms and moss stand out with leather and tobacco are really nice here. Spice and cedar on the long, splendid finish. Drink this now. Go buy a bunch and drink them every year.

Opened super tight. Then flourished with body and fruit. But alas... Not traditional but modern in style.

Disagree with AG on this one. We really enjoyed this tonight. Plump, full, rich and delicious.

A lot of old leather, forest floor, and tobacco on the nose. A musky cowboy of wines, if you will. tight and fruity, dark fruit. Acidic and strong.

Tonight's winner. The 2006 still has some road to travel on the shelf. Thank goodness I have another one. Still some tannins, but already taking on its second life. Fantastic colour and flavour. Delicious.

Not as big as top Brunellos go, but medium weighted with mushroom and leather notes with good sangio fruit.

This took a while to settle down. Initially, I was concerned, but that soon evaporated.
Visually, the wine is delicate in the glass. Nose is filled with mushrooms, truffles, forest floor and black cherries. The wine is taut on the palette. With O2, it extends and expands. Perfectly balanced with underripe tannins. This is destined for greatness - make no mistake!
Tonight, I was introduced to something that I want to return to, 3 - 5 years from now...
