Les Caillerets Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay
Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France

It’s no secret PYCM made incredible 11’s. Les Caillerets couldn’t have shown better tonight, fully open and giving wafting from the glass with layers of white peach, toasted hazelnut and pastry cream. The palate is impeccably refined, elegant, pure and chiseled with racy lemony acids, superb weight for the vintage and a long stony mineral inflicted finale. Excellent, and still quite young.

The perfect white burg vintage! Love it particularly for PYCM. 2017 Caillerets is electric, so defined and expressive, wafting layers of matchstick, spice-tinged yellow fruit, hazelnuts and white flowers. The palate is chiseled, voluminous and concentrated with incredible purity, and a long chalky mineral inflicted finale. It’s still young, but in such a great spot!

Pretty thrilling stuff. A whiff of struck match and the sulfurous wisp left behind. Lemon attack with a sizzle of bright acidity. A powerful midpalate of solid fruit with minerals and a long bright finish. Lots of fun. Very PYCM

Amazing what PYCM can do in warm vintages. Stunning tonight. And pre-2011 PYCM just hits different. ✨

I absolutely love the Caillerets site and tonight it was showing superbly. Framed by just the slightest attractive reduction, it wafts from the glass showing layers of white orchard fruit, toasted hazelnut, fresh lilies and a touch of spice. The palate is deep, concentrated and incredibly pure in its fruit expression showing great focus, textural richness and a long mineral inflicted finale. PYCM is always a good idea ✨

PYCM 2015 Horizontal
Stony mineral with great aromatic depth. Almost silky herb note and camomile. Pure with a richer body and intense flavour. Steely elegant.
Parcel from wine-maker’s parents towards the top with stony and shallow soil. It’s his reference for all the other wines, never high alcohol, never low. Caillerets is one of the most distinguished wines of his cellar and my personal favourite of the tasting.
Multidimensional Grand Cru quality in all but name.
