Pierre Sparr
Mambourg Alsace Grand Cru Gewürztraminer
First white wine at Table #2 at Oakton Wine Shops Bucket List Tasting.
Light pale yellow. Semi-sweet nose with apples and floral. Medium acidity (5.5/10) but a bit unbalanced. Medium bodied with a touch of spices, and roses. Medium plus finish. A little bit of melted wax in the finish too. Drink till 2020.

This really was just a stunner. Strangely enough it was off dry...not what I was expecting but a very nice surprise. Soft apricot aromas with the classic aged Gewürztraminer notes mixed in. Drinking beautifully now.

Nov 2nd, 2013Pale yellow with nose of stone fruit and honey. Smooth on the way down with lychee honey on the palate. Not as intense as the zind humbrecht from the night before. Paired well with scallops and Dover sole. Another good Alsace product.
