Les Cèdres Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

Dark tawny color, almost opaque. Notes of black cherry, earth and dirt, along with some herbs. Masculine in its approach. Tannins still present. Notes of pepper and unsweetened chocolate also appear. Guesses were all over the map with this one... nobody could find the continent nor grape varietals. I was in 60's Cal Cab land.

If blinded, I would have gone with Bordeaux. Leather, iodine, hint of menthol. Nothing to suggest CdP/Grenache, other than some oak. Interesting for sure, but nothing special after 40 years.

Nice fruit. Still bright with some tobacco and plum. In good shape for its age but not a profound wine

A dignified old gal. Subtle gamey, earthy and flowery notes and surprising density for a CdP of its age. Pretty splendid.

90 points at its best , but would have liked it better years ago.

I love tannin more than most, but this was too much for me and not in a structured, needs age kind of way.

70% #garnacha 15 #cinsault 10 #syrah And 5 #monastrell #gsm #france #rhone hardly present in the nose. While also quite subtle on the palate. It does seem elegant and soft. It seems to have a woman's touch. Caroline Frey doesn't disappoint here. Basically it's an affordable #chateauneufdupape
