2013 vintage. The second wine of La Chapelle, that is now named " Maison Bleue", but an excellent wine in its own right. At 9 years old this is absolutely gorgeous with an expressive nose of blackberries, wild flowers, pepper and leather, enhanced by a subtle smokiness. In the mouth it combines power with elegance, with pure fruit, subtle spices, silky tannins and great length. Terrific value if the mythical La Chappelle doesn't fit your budget. Abv. 13,5%

Great bottle with the family last week. So fun to watch my parents, Dad especially, have their “ah-ha” Syrah moment. It was showing beautifully, the ripeness of the fruit, the secondary pepper, savory, smokey, meaty character that comes from Syrah in this part of the world, and the great bottle development notes of sweet tobacco, leather, and exotic spices. Cooperage was integrated and well managed. Wish I had better notes but oh well. Pretty slamming “second wine” IMO

This is a beautiful wine that needs a lot more time in bottle. Still tight after 7 hours of air. Pepper and meat and violets and tannin. Gonna be a stunner.

Another monthly WTF Group meet up. Northern Rhône vs Southern Rhône, blind as usual.

I really enjoyed this. Significantly more iron dominant notes on the nose with a very dark palate. More cassis and smoke than rhubarb.

Beautiful, elegant soft brambles and earth tones. Excellent balance.

On a gentle decline or an off bottle? Pretty unexpressive next to the '05 Lynch Bages.

Nice ripe black and blue currants, raspberries, grilled meats, stones, spice, leather, good oak use and nice finish.
