Medium lemon color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits, white blossom and bright mineral scents. On the palate, it strikes a beautiful balance between richness and elegance, with a lush texture and abundant flavors of apple, pear and citrus notes, silky, long finish ending with fruit, floral, vanilla and mineral character. Very nice will age well.

Super Bowl Sunday 2023 Chardonnay. Larry Hyde grows reliably good berries. 2017. Austere, linear, well-balanced. Cheers!

I have a confusing love/hate relationship with Hyde Vineyard. Over rated? Maybe. Outstanding fruit? Yes. It’s really the perfect battleground where winemakers can show their Chardonnay-making chops. Patz and Hall does a great job with this effort. Highly recommended!

Hyde is always beautiful. And the ‘17 is particularly uplifting and clean. Long finish. Great job.

Last stop on day one in Sonoma was at Patz & Hall Winery. First wine was their Chardonnay from the Hyde Vineyard on the Napa side of Carneros.

Medium lemon yellow in appearance. Light floral notes on the nose to start followed up by some honeysuckle, stone fruits and a little citrus. Medium acidity (6/10) and medium bodied. A little bit of marzipan on the palate with some candied apples and some citrus rind. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2022. $$

Less zippy, but wonderful concentration and salinity. Rued & Hyde showing particularly well.
