La Ginestra Barbera d'Alba

Ripe, earthy, long finish. 15.5% abv! Somehow not feeling the heat.

Pleasantly surprised. Red berries and violet on the nose. Plum and dark cherry. Gripping acidity with smooth tannins at end. Hot at 15.5%! Great deal at 24$, perfect with Loafers pizza.

This is a beautiful food wine. It has velvety far cherry fruit and a smoothly tannic finish.

2011 Paolo Conterno Barbera d'Alba La Ginestra - Earthy and herbal edge to dark fruit.

Modern style, but nice wine. Drinks like an excellent Napa cab body-wise and acidity, tannin. When paired with steak this was in its element, but anything less would be overpowered.

Thought this was really nice and got even better after a few hours. Both dark fruit - cherry and plum - and bright - strawberry and raspberry.

Excellent! Smooth, not too dry and not sweet. Easy drinking and can be drank alone. May not stand up to bold food flavours.

This a a great example of Barbera. Medium bodied, good berry flavour with decent tannins. Maybe a bit young making it a wee bit acidic, but laying this down for a couple more years should help. Had the 2010 last year and it was excellent. Has become one of my "go to's".

Acidic and delicate. Pair with charcuterie, mushroom risotto, or poultry.
