Pale ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Strong fruity nose of red fruits, tobacco leaf, light oak, earth, mildew, herbs, light spices, milk chocolates, black tea and light barnyard.

Light to medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, light oak, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, tobacco leaf, herbs, black pepper and black tea.

Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 19 year old Grenache from Howell Mountain is still drinking beautifully. Elegant and complex with a soft mouthfeel. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 45 minutes of airtime.

Was probably better a few years ago, but it is still delicious. Always nice to try these aged wines.

100% Grenache grapes were aged in used French Oak barrels.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$75.

Distinctive. Medium bodied strawberry and mineral. In a little bit of a dead period. Needs 5yr more age.

Wonderful notes of wet concrete, ripe strawberry, and baking spices on the nose. Medium bodied (so for a grenache maybe on the heavier side), light tannins and a beautiful ruby color greet you at every sip. On the palette the strawberry notes are intense, and I would call this a “boozy” grenache as the alcohol is quite punchy. The strawberry notes are coupled with dried meat, white pepper and hints of red plum. Yum!

Distinctive and aromatic! Wild strawberry, rose potpourri, chicken feed, mint and cinnamon. Light in body and clear at the edge. All my wine geekiness chortled in excitement.

Tastes kinda weird to me. The 2008 version was one of my favorite bottles of Grenache ever, but the 2012 is pretty hot on the mouth from the alcohol and lots of eucalyptus and peppermint taste with a hint of the burgundy barnyard element. No strawberries at all which I usually enjoy with Grenache.

Strong aromas of raspberry, red fruit flavors, definitely ripe but not overly so, some licorice notes on the finish. Listed at over 15% alcohol but isn't hot
