Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Last night in Houston for awhile. Heading back to Anaheim tomorrow. Out of wine so stopped at Trader Joe’s and saw this $20 Napa cab so we thought we would try it and coming are to our under $20 wines we’ve been doing during the lockdown. Enjoyed with take away from Avesta Persian Grill. Nice but looking forward to my CA stash.

Drops hints of much more expense Oakville bottles. Less than $20 at Trader Joe’s.

Sweet, full-bodied

Great Cab that is smooth with a perfect balance of tannins

Strong and fruity

I’m getting a spice finish that I haven’t seen other reviewers mention. Maybe for a winter dinner, but not for me just to enjoy watching tv or hanging out with friends.

Much darker than I was expecting, in a good way. THIS wine I’ll call jammy.

Nose: cassis, cherry, spices…booze. Wet stone. A little leather. Raspberry leaf. Good flavors, but smells a little cheap and thin.

Taste: Pretty good. Medium weight +, silky, very fruit forward. A strong herbal cassis finish. 89-90. Not a “good deal”, but probably worth the $20. Reminiscent of a proper Napa Cab, imagine that!
