Appassimento Terre Siciliane Nero d'Avola

This wine is dark in the glass. It has a rather muted nose, but it manages to show off some plum and dark berry aromas. There is also a smattering of tobacco, oregano and clove. The palate is complex and vivid. The strong dark fruit flavors are cloaked in sweet oak spice and black pepper. With the meatballs from my butcher across the street, the pairing is perfect.

Black cherry, raisin, and some licorice aromas. Raisin, fig, plum, and raspberry liquer flavors. Medium body with medium minus tannins and a relatively short finish. Overall, a bit too sweet, without enough structure or depth for my taste, but sure to have it's fans, and would likely pair well with spiced meats and pepperoni pizza. Reminiscent of a cheap amarone, but I guess that's what you get in this style for around $10.

Interesting. Solid body. A bit sweet due appassimiento method. Lots of red fruit: blackberry raisin cerise cassis blackberry. An enjoyable funky undertone of undergrowth was unexpected.

A great Nero D’Avola!! Recommended by the wine store where I found it. Full of fruit and very smooth. Very good for being so young.

This is fantastic! Full of flavor and silky smooth with a lingering fruity finish.
