Good show. Only a hint of CA sunshine on the close.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2010 Mount Eden Estate Pinot Noir is simply beautiful…but then again, I tend to be a sucker for light handed, Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir. The wine pours a very pretty ruby color with a slightly hazy, translucent core. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is still developing with a lovely mix of high-toned red fruits: slightly bruised strawberries, raspberries, with mushrooms, forest floor and mild warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, elegant and by all rights, gorgeous. Drink now and over the next 7+ years, easy.

A tad too young at the moment showing a lot of tension and a fair bit of tannin. But will be great for a long haul. Leans a touch heavy with bursting plum and blackberry, plenty of spices and a touch of smoke.

Dark red berries, red plums, brambly piquant fruit. Concentrated sweet and tart fruit grip the palate. Transparent, energetic, vibrating. Incredible length.

What a bottle! This 33 year old Pinot was as good as almost any California wine I have had- a top notch experience. It was an incredible partner to Cinnamon's Bossam (a fabulous slow cooked pork dish) that changed with every sip. It had plenty of sweet fruit and great texture, and was at times shockingly pure and at others meaty and savory. A great, swelling, complex finish completed the experience!

If I didn’t know better I’d have bet this was a Burgundy. 1er cru, Grand Cru? Not sure because if I be damned, this is Cali Pinot! Wow. This is pure terroir. This nose has some baking spice and thyme. Let’s throw in some olives and orange peel, too. Then that palate is black tea, Rosemary, olive, plum, lavender. So much goodness in this stunning bottle. Yes!

Damn. Aldo is a trickster. Everybody at the table thought it was mid 90's 1er cru if not grand cru. Made me question everything I thought I knew about CA pinot.
