Montevertine
Pian del Ciampolo Toscana Super Tuscan Blend
Tuscany, Italy
Really good and balanced. Drank over two days and showed dark sour cherry an hour or so after opened. More herbal and tea like the second day. At $25, this would be great to drink regularly.

1.5L bottle served side-by-side to Felsina’s “Fontalloro”. Decanted for two hours and returned to bottle an hour before serving. Sour cherries, black tea, dried herbs...a stunner with food. Obviously the more traditional of the two. A lovely IGT that stays true to the region’s roots. No pun intended.

Apr 30th, 2019Saw this for $50 with some nice age and wanted to try it. Opened a couple hours before dinner but no decant. Could have used the decant in general, lots of yeasty sediment. Really quite delicious. Restrained, earthy, slightly bitter in a good way. Excellent mouthfeel. Good fruit balanced by good acid and just enough tannin.

Nov 16th, 2025Solid wine although didn’t quite land as much as other Montevertines I’ve had - there’s a lot going on but didn’t feel like it was all pulling in the same direction.

Got these as buffer for the Montevertine '16 resting in my cellar untill they're ready. Well, if this is a warning for what is coming...make sure you get these, the Montevertine and (if your wallet allows it) the Pergole Torte because something great is coming! As long as you stock them...
