This wine is the 2018 Montepeloso Eneo Costa Toscana. A blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Montepulciano and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, plum, herbs, anise, rose petals, sage and earth.

On the palate we get nice cherry, raspberry, cranberry, mint, spice, star anise and dry soil.

This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel, medium + to high acidity and medium to medium + fine smooth tannins moving well into a long dark fruit earthy finish. Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy family and friends and please stay healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Really good follow up but, there is a reason the Italians hold their reds back an additional 1-3 years. This 09 is good but, needs another 8-9 years in bottle to show its full brilliance. It does improve with two hours in the decanter. However, still a lot primary earth & barrel toast/char.

The fruits are; juicy, ripe & ruby. blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, poached strawberries with hovering raspberries. Dark spice, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon stick, vanilla, tarry notes, used expresso grounds, dark chocolate bar, caramel, herbs, forest floor with dry leaves, leather, dry tobacco, moist, rich, turned earth, dry soils, limestone, moist clay, calistoga bathtub mud with ruby, slightly candied, fresh & withering florals that are; dark, red, blue, purple/glowing violets in creamy lavender. The acidity is round & beautiful. The long finish is; juicy fruit, well balanced, elegant, persistent, falling onto cinnamon stick, spice & earth.

The 2016 Eneo is a dark, sumptuous beauty. Black cherry, plum, lavender, spice, menthol and licorice infuse the 2016 with striking depth as well as tons of textural resonance. Rich and expansive on the palate, the 2016 builds effortlessly through to its layered, super-expressive finish. This is such a gorgeous, alluring wine, especially for the money. The 2015 Eneo is a dark, powerful wine. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, chocolate, sage smoke and licorice add to the wine's brooding personality. The natural richness of the vintage has resulted in an unusually potent, masculine Eneo that plays off textural and flavor intensity, despite its mid-weight frame. Time in the glass brings out the wine's mid-palate pliancy and an extra kick of freshness that lifts the fruit beautifully. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018)

Severe cowshit on the nose. I shud have decanted this, but I’m impatient. Barnyard plays out on the palate, too. This is tannic, yet sweet. Structured, with a weighty mouthfeel. Superb finish with notes of cedar, roasted almonds and black cherries. This will be singing 3 years from now. If you like power and exuberance, give Eneo a try.
AG puked all over this - I taste no Bret!!!

Had to try the 13 vintage: The 12 is better, but this is still great.

A brilliant Sangiovese blend. Loving this example/vintage. Black cherries, spice box and coffee stand tall. Showing perfectly now, but could put on weight over time. Excellent.

Starts off pretty reductive but after some serious swirling beautifully dark fruits and oriental spices emerge with dusty minerals and a whiff of bitter chocolate from its upbringing in French oak. Pungent stuff. Full and rich on the palate with sweet tannins and an underlying acidic spine creating freshness despite its obvious power. Dry finish, completely unleashed but very promising. Try in 2018 and beyond.

Rich and decadent, this voluminous vintage is big but nicely balanced. Brooding finish. Great value.
