WS thought this 2009 vintage was one of the 100 best of the year. I have had many bottles. I want to like it but...the tannins are over the top. I think I've bought my last bottle. Here's an update. Opened the last bottle last night and decided to try to tame the tannins by decanting. Voila, within 30 minutes the effect went from harsh to drinkable. That's worth a few adjustments to the right of the decimal.

This is brilliant value for money. Soft and mouth-filling, very approachable with good structure.

A blend of Sangiovese, Merlot & Cabernet this wine has lovely aromas of roasted tomatoes, sweet tobacco & balsamic reduction on the nose. While the palate brings fruit to the forefront with raspberry & black cherry along with notes of thyme, clay & pepper through the finish. All in all, quite enjoyable and an excellent pairing with empanadas & spicy pepperoni Pizza! ($16)  [2/17/21]

Tastey. Notes of smokey fruit, oak, some tannins. Nice for the price.
