La Perrière Mercurey Pinot Noir

Good fruit purity, subtle wood notes and earth tones.

Bright red berries. Fresh acidity. Full silky tannins. Competes in quality at half the price with many boys further north.

Roses

Aromatics of licorice, bitters and fernet. A bit tannic. Great with duck. Quack, quack gulp.

Ripe cherries currant and spice. Always a good deal.

Full, herbal, ripe and oaky on the nose, obviously still young but more than ready to play. Odors of licorice and Fernet or Chartreuse come through. Thank goodness this has been open since yesterday, it almost certainly needed it. On the palate, bright cassis, wild strawberry and herbal liquor comes through with jasmine and finely structured tannins. Yumyumyum.

Sour red and black cherries, pencil shavings and graphite minerality. A little brambly. Totally delicious.

Stinky at first some sulfur on the nose and a little brett which blows off. Deep red with orange tinge. Some cherries but mostly elderberries. Relatively rough tannins. It's a good wine a good deal and a good intro into Burgundy but not more. Next day much more cherry notes.
