Sipping Fine Wine

A blend of 81% Cab Sauv, 11% Petite Sirah & 8% Merlot, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits and herb spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with notes of licorice and vanilla. Rustic tight tannins, lively acidity, medium+ finish ending with vanilla and cedar notes.

Good but conflicted. I never experienced this: one sip would be spectacular, embodying expectations of Napa cab... the next disappointing (slight "pool water")... and then great... cycling back and forth until it had long enough to breathe into ok. The good sips I'd rate a 9.2 the not so great an 8.8... so I'll give it a 9. I should try another to test... but I'm onto the next wine. Kudo's for being Merryvale's sustainable solar winery.

Maybe we weren't starstrucked by this Starmont but this little fucker really killed it! A classic cabernet, with an extra touch of finess.

Clear, hazy to bright reflections, purple color, high concentration, ruby rim, no sediment and medium viscosity. Nose: moderate, youth, ripe blackberries and blackberry jam. Flowers, white lilies, cinnamon, chalk, french oak adds a vanilla/creme brûlée element. Palate: dry, med+ body, ripe blackberries, dried black currant, black cherry undertone with a plum skin tartness, lilac and white flowers, really no earthiness to speak of. Vanilla and brown sugary oak. Med tannins, med+ alcohol(14.5), medium acid, med+ finish, med+ complexity.

Bottle #3 for the night.... Getting ready for our trip to Bordeaux.. Have to end with a Napa Cab! Black olives. Road tar. Soft. Silky. Toast.

This Cabernet has a a very nice dark ruby color. The nose is very poignant with notes of black cherry, black currant, clove, and licorice. On the palate is a medium mouth feel that is smooth with a pleasing long finish. There are good fruit in black cherry, blackberry, black currant, and herbal notes. I also am getting fine medium + tannins. A good quafable wine. Purchased for around $ 17.99.
