Melville
Estate Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Blind #2. Tasters honed in on Syrah. New world followed. Beautiful example. Strong deduction by the tasting group. Fascinating next to the 2016 Guigal Cote Rotie.

Just how I like my Syrah. Zesty and peppery up front but leading to a more savory core of olives, violets, and wild brambly fruit. 40% whole cluster in neutral oak. Very complex with something to appreciate no matter your preferred style of the grape.

Aug 25th, 2021Red/black tart fruit, incredible pepper and unmistakable for syrah. Some meaty overtones and great acid. Could be mistaken for Cornas just as animalistic…but well done…
