Couleur prononcée. Le nez semble avoir une touche Bordelaise et du Sangiovese aussi, croyant Cabernet Sauvignon, finalement 50% Merlot et 50% Sangiovese. Du fruit noir et bleu, graphite, mures, violettes. Une bouche riche, ample, belle texture satinée, ne fait pas son âge du tout, très bien. 91-92
Tasted blind, The nose has scents of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon I clled butmit was finally Merlot, 50-50 Sangio and Merlot. Nice wine with scents of black and blue fruit, violets and graphite. The palate is rich, dense, ripe, nice texture, seems younger then 14 years old, very good.

Sadly tasted considerably past its prime :-(
The cork was perfect and the fill was proper. Anyone else have this recently? Wondering if just a bad bottle or past it’s peak. #Siepi 2007

2nd bottle of this almost 4 years later. Still a wow with refined tannins, copious fragrances, concentrated flavors, and very long finish with heat. Bravo.

Great experience. A Mazzei Siepi vertical of 7 vintages hosted by Francesco Mazzei. All good but with quite a bit of character variation depending on the conditions of each year. For me the 2012 and 2007 were standouts. The 07 was sophisticated elegance. The 12 packed with herbs, olives, dark fruit. You might still find some '12s in the shop if you are lucky (the 20th anniversary of the 50/50 Merlot Sangiovese super Siepi blend). Cheers.

Not overwrought or thoughtlessly modern and glossy. Good raspy tannins, balance, and yes ripe fruit. But little discernible oak and wonderful companion to homemade bolognese.

The nose is cedar. Don't understand the folks that talk about chocolate. Must be a different wine from what I'm drinking and fudge is really stupid. Tannins are sharp. Good stuff. Think it needs to stretch a bit. Will have it tomorrow. Sitting on another 3 bottles

Jul 5th, 2016Color of dark purple, almost inky with slow flowing legs. Nose of crayon, sweet cherries, mocha, and plum. Taste of dark chocolate bombing your tongue, espresso coffee, black pepper, subtle sweetness and balsamic acidity, thyme like spice, grassy herbal note, jammy, and quite firm tannins. Aftertaste of some mellow balsamic acidity and bitterness on the rim of the tongue, a touch of smoky barrel note, coffee, medium long. Since I am a big fan of coffee, even though the nose is a bit missing, the attractive coffee and chocolate notes are there for me!
