Light see-through brick color; large nose of freshly-opened bucket of paint spiced up with white flower petals and with the fruit -- ripe red cherries and black currants -- in the background; the taste is delicious, tannic, and long, but it lacks mid-palate punch. This wine obviously needs food, in this case robust semi-hard swiss and french cheeses worked well. Great value wine!

Aug 12th, 20172012 w/ burgers, backyard eggplant, grilled corn. Lots of evolution over the evening. Writing this now ~3.5hrs after opening. Now showing an intensely herbal and spearmint nose with sweet tomato savoriness. Earlier in the night more fruit. Initially there’s like a fleshy crisp apple then rosemary, bandaid, cranberry on the palette with a little fancy ham in there. Slightly grippy but not really. That bandaid thing comes out more in the finish. Seems to continue to benefit from air and went through some interesting weird phases over these several hours.

Open for a couple hours... dried black-cherries, plum and leather meet violets and cranberry. Showing more tertiary aromas with time in the glass. Medium weight with a dark core. Well structured and classic in style. Tannins are not overly pronounced, showing a style that is more approachable now.

Young but tasty with a good fresh pasta and rack of lamb. Definitely needed decanting.

Too young, harsh tannins, low fruit, very dry. Hard to imagine it will improve much
