Marchesi de' Frescobaldi
Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni Toscana Super Tuscan Blend
This house can do it all. High end wine. Table wine. And everything in between.
Better than I expected. Doesn’t taste as youthful as it actually is.

Despite the cagily not helpful nature of the tech sheet which would not give me the percentages of cab s, Merlot, cab f and sangiovese in this I’m not mad at it. Juicy with good acid and I love a bit of acid. More red fruit than black, and lots of baking spices that have been socializing with olives. I hate olives but these olives had enough character to liven up the mix without being an overwhelming note. What I’m saying is these are the only olives I will ever associate with. Sorry that was a tangent this wine is yummy and on the lighter side of cab blends.

Sep 23rd, 2018This wine is medium dark, with a bit of light getting through the glass. The nose presents a savory show of spice and fruit. Blackberry and plum aromas are joined by oak spice, earth and coffee notes. The palate has plenty of that dark fruit, but also plenty of that savory side. Good acidity and firm tannins refresh the mouthfeel. The finish is medium. This is a great wine to pair with pork or roasted chicken, but I think it would also be nice with turkey on the Thanksgiving table.

This was so fantastic! Bright, fruity, cherry notes followed by herbs and meat. Dank on the nose. Wonderful!!

Lacks the body that defines a good Super Tuscan, so I'm hesitant to categorize this one that way either. It's like something in between & I like it.
